In Leh, a significant step was taken towards sustainable energy transition as Union Minister Manohar Lal inaugurated a fleet of green hydrogen buses by NTPC. The project, known as the Green Hydrogen Mobility Project, features a 1.7 MW solar plant, a hydrogen filling station with an 80 kg/day capacity, and five intra-city hydrogen buses. Positioned at a remarkable altitude of 3650 m, this project stands as the world's highest, designed to operate efficiently in low-density air conditions. With the capacity to reduce 350 metric tons of carbon emissions annually, it not only promotes green mobility but also emphasizes the region's potential for embracing green hydrogen solutions. The initiative received commendation for its innovative approach towards energy security and decarbonization through the application of hydrogen technology. This milestone underlines the importance of investing in sustainable energy solutions and highlights the positive impact of green hydrogen in mitigating climate change.
