Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) has partnered with Nel ASA, a Norwegian firm, to accelerate green hydrogen production in India through a technology licensing agreement. Green hydrogen, produced via water electrolysis using renewable electricity, is crucial for reducing carbon footprint. The collaboration grants Reliance exclusive rights to Nel's alkaline electrolyser technology in India, facilitating the shift towards green hydrogen production. RIL plans to transition from grey to green hydrogen by 2025, aiming to meet the ambitious 1-1-1 goal shared by its chairman Mukesh Ambani. By establishing a giga-scale electrolyser manufacturing facility at the Dhirubhai Ambani Green Energy Giga Complex, Reliance aims to drive advancements in sustainable hydrogen production.
