Sembcorp Industries, through its subsidiaries, has announced plans to establish a green hydrogen production facility in Odisha, India, with a projected capacity of 720,000 tonnes per annum. The signing of non-binding MOUs with the Government of Odisha marks a significant step in exploring the development of this facility, expected to generate more than 2,000 employment opportunities. In the presence of dignitaries including Singapore's Minister for Transport and Odisha Chief Minister, the agreements were finalized to strategically locate the facility in Odisha. Additionally, Sembcorp Development Ltd has signed another MOU to assess the potential for an industrial park in the region. These partnerships aim to bolster bilateral collaboration between Singapore and India, focusing on sustainability among other key pillars. The move highlights Odisha's significance in India's transition to a low-carbon future, leveraging its abundant resources and favorable policies for investors. The initiative is part of Sembcorp's efforts to expand its presence in India, with the backing of entities like Enterprise Singapore, as part of broader efforts to strengthen economic ties between the two countries.
