In a significant development towards India's net-zero emissions goal by 2070, Tata Motors launched the first-ever trials of hydrogen-powered heavy-duty trucks in New Delhi. Union Ministers Nitin Gadkari and Pralhad Joshi praised the initiative, highlighting the potential of hydrogen in transforming the transportation sector and achieving energy self-reliance. The trial, part of the National Green Hydrogen Mission, aims to assess the commercial viability of hydrogen-powered vehicles for long-distance haulage and establish the necessary infrastructure. Tata Motors will deploy 16 advanced hydrogen trucks equipped with innovative technologies on prominent freight routes for a 24-month trial period. Executive Director Girish Wagh expressed Tata Motors' commitment to sustainable mobility and praised the government for its leadership in enabling this transition to clean energy.
