In Navi Mumbai, Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal announced the ambitious Vadhvan Port project, set to rank among the top 10 container-handling ports globally, with a substantial investment of Rs 76,220 crore. Additionally, aligning with India's green hydrogen mission and aiming for net-zero emissions by 2070, the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA) is set to lead in green initiatives. Notably, efforts to engage with local communities, especially fishermen, and sustain their traditional businesses amidst development activities have been emphasized. The announcement of 16 green parks to be established across major Indian ports by 2030 further underscores the dedication to environmental conservation and green practices. The signing of MoUs with REC, Vadhavan Port, and GTI indicates strategic partnerships for financing infrastructure projects and sustainable initiatives, reflecting a holistic approach towards port development and community welfare.
