The Visakhapatnam district administration is gearing up for the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who will inaugurate the Green Hydrogen Hub of the NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL) in Visakhapatnam on January 8. The Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister, ministers, MPs, and MLAs will also be in attendance. This ambitious project, with an estimated cost of ₹84,700 crore, will be located in Pudimadaka, Anakapalli district, spreading over 1,200 acres. The Green Hydrogen Hub, a key part of the National Green Hydrogen Mission, aims to solidify Andhra Pradesh's position as a global leader in clean energy production by generating 20 gigawatts of clean electricity and creating 25,000 jobs. It will also produce 1,200 tonnes of green hydrogen daily, converting it into export-grade green ammonia and green methanol. The project is designed to encourage innovation, featuring provisions for manufacturing electrolyzers and fuel cells, supporting start-ups, and providing testing and production infrastructures for ancillary industries within the clean energy sector. The National Green Hydrogen Mission, with a focus on aligning with international de-carbonization efforts and helping India achieve its renewable energy targets, is expected to drive India towards becoming a prominent green hydrogen production and export hub. The Prime Minister's visit will culminate in a public meeting at AU Engineering College grounds and may include laying the foundation stone for the South Coast Railway Zone.
