The Aberdeen Hydrogen Hub in Scotland, driven by the joint venture between bp and the Aberdeen City Council (bpAHEL), has selected infrastructure consulting firm AECOM to lead the technical design for scalable green hydrogen production. AECOM's involvement in the project aims to support the development of the hub's initial phase, which will feature a green hydrogen production facility powered by a solar farm and a refueling station for buses and trucks. The firm will oversee coordination between various contractors, ensure safety standards, and manage stakeholder communications. This initiative aligns with the city's energy transition goals by fostering the growth of green skilled workers and transitioning local jobs and supply chains towards a more sustainable future. Sam Mackilligin from AECOM highlighted the importance of reaching the Final Investment Decision (FID) stage to advance hydrogen projects, emphasizing the potential for economic growth and job creation.
