ADNOC Gas, the LNG business of ADNOC Group, has partnered with Baker Hughes to deploy Levidian's LOOP technology at the Habshan Gas Processing Plant in Abu Dhabi. The innovative technology captures carbon from methane, converting it into graphene and hydrogen. This marks the first operational deployment of the technology at a gas processing site. The LOOP unit is capable of producing over 1 tonne per annum of graphene and hydrogen, supporting global energy transition goals. ADNOC Gas plans to refine AI modelling and digital twins to enhance energy efficiency and maximize graphene output. Graphene produced will be explored for various applications, from improving electric vehicle batteries to creating durable materials. Additionally, ADNOC Gas is investing in LNG infrastructure to increase capacity and advance decarbonisation efforts. The company aims to double its LNG capacity, leveraging AI and innovative technologies for enhanced safety, emissions reduction, and efficiency. Furthermore, ADNOC has increased its budget allocation for decarbonisation projects and lower-carbon solutions to $23 billion, expediting its net zero carbon emissions target to 2045 and zero methane emissions by 2030.
