Countrywide Hydrogen is set to secure AUD $8m once it finalizes the delivery of Tasmanian-produced green hydrogen. The company's initial projects are scheduled near Devonport and Hobart, with hydrogen production expected to commence at both sites in 2026. The 'Hydrogen HyWay#1' project is envisioned as Australia's pioneer in creating an end-to-end hydrogen transport ecosystem. This endeavor will be supported by the Tasmanian government's Green Hydrogen Price Reduction Scheme, which aims to encourage the production and consumption of hydrogen by offering payments per kg of renewable hydrogen sold. Geoff Drucker, the Managing Director of Countrywide, highlighted the company's plans to support road transport operators and customers in achieving emission reduction targets through zero-emission freight services. Moreover, the Australian Federal Budget has earmarked a significant amount of AUD $6.7bn for green hydrogen producers through a tax credit scheme to be implemented between 2027 and 2028, offering AUD $2 per kg of hydrogen. This investment showcases a positive outlook towards the hydrogen industry in Australia and aims to stimulate growth and innovation in the renewable energy sector.
