Voltalia, a global renewable energy leader, and TAQA Arabia have expanded their partnership by signing a framework agreement during the 2024 Egypt-EU Investment Conference in Cairo. This agreement builds on a previous Memorandum of Understanding signed in 2022 and focuses on developing a green hydrogen production project near Ain Sokhna port in the Suez Canal Economic Zone. The project will be implemented in two phases, each featuring a 500-megawatt electrolyzer powered by 1.3 gigawatts of solar and wind energy. The expected annual hydrogen production capacity will exceed 130,000 tons per phase. The signing ceremony, attended by Egyptian officials and key government representatives, highlights the country's commitment to transitioning to a sustainable green economy and achieving regional leadership in green hydrogen production.
