Oman and Bulgaria are on the verge of signing a Memorandum of Understanding to strengthen their bilateral energy relations. The agreement, set to be finalized within the next two months, will focus on enhancing cooperation in various energy sectors, including oil and gas, hydrogen, renewable energy production, and storage. Bulgaria's Minister of Energy highlighted the importance of energy security, particularly in securing long-term liquefied natural gas (LNG) supplies. The two countries also discussed the potential for Omani investments in Bulgaria. Bulgaria views hydrogen as a promising clean energy source and aims to collaborate with Oman in this area, positioning itself as a gateway for hydrogen producers entering the European market. Additionally, talks included Bulgaria's pursuit of reaching net-zero emissions by 2050 and the potential for cooperation in pumped-storage hydropower plants. The ministers agreed to incorporate these topics into the memorandum, which will set the stage for further development of bilateral energy relations between Oman and Bulgaria.
