Hydrom, the state-owned entity in Oman responsible for green hydrogen development, organized a workshop in Muscat to assess the country's preparedness in achieving ambitious green hydrogen production targets. The workshop, chaired by Salem Nasser Al-Awfi, Minister of Energy and Minerals and Chairman of Hydrom, aimed to discuss strategic plans, address challenges, and formulate action plans to meet the 2030 production goals and Vision 2040 objectives. Hydrom has already earmarked 8 plots of land covering 2,300 square kilometers for green hydrogen production out of a potential 50,000 square kilometers. These plots have attracted significant investment commitments exceeding $49 billion from energy consortia spanning Asia, Europe, Australia, and the Middle East.
General Manager Abdul Aziz Al Shethani highlighted Hydrom's dedication to improving the hydrogen value chain to drive employment, economic growth, and institutional capacity in Oman. He also emphasized the rapid progress made by Hydrom since its establishment in October 2022 and reiterated their momentum in advancing operations.
