A new collaborative effort between the Saudi Investment Recycling Co. and German company Concord Blue will see the establishment of a station in Riyadh dedicated to converting sewage into renewable hydrogen. The memorandum of understanding signed for the project's first phase involves utilizing Concord Blue Reformer technology to process sewage and organic waste, emphasizing a clean and efficient waste-to-energy conversion method. This initiative is part of SIRC's commitment to implementing impactful waste reduction strategies, promoting renewable energy solutions, and advocating for environmental justice. The project is in line with Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Environment's plan to recycle up to 95% of the country's waste. The comprehensive plan will involve SIRC providing sewage and agricultural waste as raw materials, which Concord Blue will then convert into renewable hydrogen. Additionally, Concord Blue will transfer knowledge in this field and train local professionals to manage and maintain waste conversion facilities. Once fully operational, the project aims to recycle approximately 100 million tonnes of waste annually, significantly contributing to environmental sustainability and advancing the circular carbon economy in the region. The collaboration showcases a significant step towards achieving Saudi Arabia's waste reduction goals and transitioning towards a more sustainable future powered by renewable energy solutions. By fostering international partnerships and incorporating innovative technologies, SIRC and Concord Blue are paving the way for a cleaner and more environmentally conscious approach to waste management and energy production in the Kingdom.
