AECOM has been chosen by the U.S. Department of Energy to lead the development of the Pacific Northwest Hydrogen Hub, part of the Regional Clean Hydrogen Hubs Program. The project aims to decarbonize industries such as trucking, shipping, logistics, energy production, and transit in the Pacific Northwest region through the establishment of hydrogen infrastructure. Proposed hub locations include Washington, Oregon, and Montana. AECOM, known for its expertise in environmental planning and clean energy initiatives, will play a key role in advancing CO2 reductions and implementing hydrogen technologies to promote a sustainable economy. The hub will leverage renewable resources to produce clean hydrogen, making it more cost-effective and helping to position the Pacific Northwest as a leader in global energy innovation. The DOE projects an annual reduction of 1.7 million metric tons of CO2 emissions, equivalent to removing 400,000 gasoline-powered cars from the road.
