SEMBCORP Green Hydrogen, a subsidiary of Sembcorp Industries, has signed a heads of terms with Japanese companies Sojitz Corporation and Kyushu Electric Power for green ammonia offtake. This collaboration follows a prior memorandum of understanding to explore supplying Japan with green ammonia from India. Sembcorp has secured land in India to develop facilities for producing 200,000 tonnes of green ammonia annually using renewable energy. The agreement, announced at the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework Clean Economy Investor Forum, saw participation from significant figures like the Japanese Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, Singapore’s Second Minister for Trade and Industry, and India’s Commerce Secretary. Despite the partnership, Sembcorp stated that the terms are not expected to significantly impact its financials for 2024. The company's shares remained stable at S$5.09 before the midday trading break on Thursday.
