Emirates Transport in the UAE is collaborating with Al Ghurair Motors to conduct pilot testing of hydrogen and electric commercial vehicles. The memorandum of understanding signed between the two entities focuses on exploring and promoting alternative-fuel commercial vehicles. By assessing the viability of sustainable vehicles and implementing pilot projects for deployment, the partnership seeks to drive innovation and establish the UAE as a frontrunner in sustainable transportation technologies. This move towards integrating hydrogen and electric commercial vehicles into Emirates Transport's national fleet is a significant step. By transitioning 50% of vehicles to electric by 2050, Emirates Transport aligns with the UAE's commitment to green fuel integration and achieving net zero by the same year. The pilot projects involving diverse clients from various sectors aim to gradually integrate more alternative-fuel vehicles into the fleet. Additionally, comprehensive technical training will be provided to Emirates Transport staff to operate and maintain these advanced vehicles. Emirates Transport's existing workshops across the UAE will be equipped to support the maintenance of these vehicles, highlighting the readiness of infrastructure and workforce. The partnership also includes a joint commitment to developing necessary infrastructure such as EV charging stations and hydrogen fueling technologies to support the pilot projects and pave the way for future scalability.
