The University of Indonesia's Supermileage Vehicle (SMV) team has once again brought honor to Indonesia by emerging victorious in the Shell Eco Marathon Asia-Pacific and Middle East 2025 competition. The Nakoela team's remarkable feat of securing the 1st place in the Hydrogen Vehicle Prototype Category, alongside the Arjuna Team's impressive 4th place in the Urban Battery Electric Category, has showcased the exemplary skills and dedication of UI students. The Chancellor of UI, Prof. Dr. Ir. Heri Hermansyah, praised the students for their well-rounded excellence, not only in academics but also in other areas.
This recent success is not the first for SMV UI, as both the Nakoela and Arjuna teams had previously achieved top rankings in the same event. The Chancellor expressed UI's pride in the international victory, hoping that it would ignite a spirit of innovation among other students to contribute groundbreaking ideas for the nation's development.
At the prestigious competition held at the Lusail International Circuit in Qatar, SMV UI's Nakoela and Arjuna teams stood out among 750 participants from 16 countries in Asia-Pacific and the Middle East. Utilizing Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) skills, the teams showcased their expertise in designing and building highly efficient cars for the race track.
The Nakoela Team, comprising eleven individuals led by Team Manager Haidar Satrio W., demonstrated exceptional teamwork and skills, with F. X Godwin as the racer. The Arjuna Team, consisting of nine members with Rafael Sinema H. as the Team Manager and Bimo Putra D. as the racer, also exhibited outstanding performance.
