Hyundai has revealed its latest innovation in the realm of hydrogen vehicles with the unveiling of INITIUM, a concept that offers a glimpse into the future production model expected in 2025. The Korean automaker showcased the INITIUM at Hyundai Motorstudio Goyang near Seoul, emphasizing the vehicle's new 'Art of Steel' design language. The SUV-like concept incorporates robust exterior features, including the distinctive 'HTWO' symbol representing Hyundai's hydrogen solutions division. The development of INITIUM focused on key aspects such as driving range, performance, interior space, and safety. Notable features include a spacious second-row seating area with adjustable reclining angles for enhanced comfort. The concept is powered by an electric motor generating 150 kW, an increase from the previous Nexo model, and is equipped with advanced battery capacity and dual hydrogen tanks to achieve a targeted driving range of over 650 km. In line with the commitment to hydrogen technology, Hyundai integrated an FCEV-specific route planner in the infotainment system to assist users in locating hydrogen refueling stations. The INITIUM also offers a Vehicle-to-Load feature, enabling the vehicle to power household appliances and personal devices, aligning with Hyundai's vision for versatile energy applications. President and CEO Jaehoon Chang expressed Hyundai's enduring dedication to hydrogen as a clean and accessible energy source, envisioning a future where hydrogen plays a pivotal role in various sectors.
