Nikola Corporation, a key player in the electric and hydrogen-powered truck market, announced its dominance in North America during a Q3 earnings call. With over 90% share in the heavy-duty fuel cell electric vehicle market, Nikola shipped 203 trucks in the first three quarters of 2024, marking a significant increase from the previous year. DHL Supply Chain and Diageo North America are among the customers incorporating Nikola fuel cell electric trucks to reduce carbon emissions. By replacing diesel trucks with hydrogen-powered ones, the companies aim to achieve significant reductions in carbon emissions, with Nikola trucks capable of operating up to 500 miles on a single charge. This move aligns with Diageo's goal of zero emissions by 2030 and DHL's target by 2050. Despite a setback in 2023 due to a recall of electric trucks, Nikola has resumed production with upgrades, including a new driver assistance system.
