Colombian company Ecopetrol has announced a major investment of US$28.5 million to construct a green hydrogen plant at the Cartagena refinery. The facility will have the capacity to produce 800 tons of green hydrogen annually, with operations expected to commence in the first half of 2026. This initiative is part of Ecopetrol's efforts to embrace clean fuel production and reduce carbon emissions. President Ricardo Roa expressed enthusiasm for the project, highlighting its environmental benefits, including the reduction of 7,700 tons of CO2 emissions per year, equivalent to the emissions of 1,650 vehicles annually.
