The Ministry of Energy and Mines in Peru has proposed a Memorandum of Cooperation with Japan to enhance collaboration in promoting renewable energy, electric mobility, efficiency, and energy management. Minister Rómulo Mucho emphasized the success of Peru's participation in the LATAM-Japan Hydrogen Workshop 2024 in Tokyo, which provided valuable insights into the hydrogen industry and the challenges of energy transition and decarbonization. The cooperation with Japan aims to advance electricity generation using various renewable sources like solar, wind, and geothermal energy, as well as promote energy storage, smart networks, and integration technologies. The focus is on leveraging Peru's abundant renewable resources, including solar, wind, and hydropower, to ensure long-term energy security and facilitate the transition to clean energy. By exploring initiatives with hydrogen, ammonia, and derivatives, such as e-fuel, the partnership aims to accelerate investment in clean and renewable energy. Minister Mucho highlighted the significant potential for mutual economic benefits between Peru and Japan, emphasizing the historical ties between the two nations. The proposed alliance through the memorandum of cooperation seeks to strengthen the collaboration between Peru and Japan and foster sustainable energy development.
