Saudi Investment Recycling Co. (SIRC) and Concord Blue from Germany have joined forces to construct a cutting-edge station in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, that will convert sewage into renewable hydrogen. The collaboration signifies a significant step towards environmental sustainability and the circular carbon economy. Through Concord Blue Reformer technology, the plant will efficiently recycle waste into energy without combustion, supporting impactful waste reduction strategies. This initiative aligns with Saudi Arabia's commitment to recycling up to 95 percent of the country's waste as part of the Ministry of Environment's comprehensive plan. Under the memorandum of understanding, SIRC will provide sewage and agricultural waste, while Concord Blue will convert these materials into renewable hydrogen, along with knowledge transfer and training programs for the local workforce. This partnership will see approximately 100 million tonnes of waste being recycled annually, showcasing the nation's dedication to sustainability and green energy solutions. The project's goals include reducing landfill waste, scaling up hydrogen production, and developing innovative solutions to decrease carbon emissions. It will also contribute to local manufacturing projects and aid in achieving a zero-carbon future by producing clean fuel to support the transition to a hydrogen economy in industries and transportation sectors.
