SSE and EET Hydrogen have come together to develop the Gowy Green Hydrogen project in Stanlow, UK, situated in Ellesmere Port, Cheshire. This innovative initiative aims to establish a 40MWe facility at the Stanlow Manufacturing Complex, providing low-carbon hydrogen to support industrial decarbonization in the North West region. The project, named after the Gowy River and the Gowy Meadows Nature Reserve, is set to play a crucial role in helping industries transition towards cleaner operations and creating job opportunities in the area. The UK's ambitious target of achieving 10GW of low-carbon hydrogen by 2030 aligns with the goals of the Gowy Green Hydrogen project, emphasizing the significance of clean energy in the nation's decarbonization efforts. Anticipated to be operational by 2028, the project is currently undergoing feasibility studies and design works, with a planning application expected in 2025. Both SSE and EET Hydrogen expressed optimism about the partnership and the project's potential impact on the region.
