In New Delhi, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) and Sembcorp have formed a joint venture (JV) agreement to explore renewable energy and green hydrogen projects in India. The partnership also includes projects in green ammonia production, emissions reduction, and other green fuel technologies. The collaboration aims to support India's energy transition and development goals, with a particular focus on decarbonisation and achieving net-zero emissions by 2040. BPCL plans to build a robust renewable energy portfolio to meet future energy needs and become a Net Zero Energy Company by 2040. Sembcorp, with 6GW of renewables assets in India, is well-equipped to drive large-scale, low-cost green hydrogen production. The agreement is seen as a significant step towards a sustainable tomorrow, combining BPCL's expertise in the petroleum sector with Sembcorp's renewables experience to develop innovative green solutions. Both companies are committed to supporting renewable energy and green hydrogen development in India, aiming to decarbonise hard-to-abate sectors and deliver scalable, low-carbon solutions for a sustainable future.
