Clean Power Hydrogen and Hidrigin Partnership for Electrolyser Manufacturing in Ireland
Key Ideas
- Clean Power Hydrogen (CPH2) to deliver a 1MW MFE220 electrolyser to Hidrigin in 2025 and license the manufacturing of up to 2GW of units in Ireland.
- Hidrigin will integrate the electrolysers with its solar PV and wind farms, exclusively using the units and not selling to third parties.
- CPH2 will receive staged payments for the license, with plans to scale up to 1GW capacity at its facilities and 3GW under license.
- Hidrigin secured €100m funding for green hydrogen projects, aiming to develop €500m of projects with CPH2 electrolysers globally.
Clean Power Hydrogen (CPH2) has announced a partnership with Hidrigin to deliver a 1MW MFE220 electrolyser to be integrated with Hidrigin's global network of solar PV and wind farms. Under a licensing agreement, Hidrigin will manufacture up to 2GW of these electrolysers in Ireland over a 20-year period starting from 2025. The partnership includes staged payments for the license as certain milestones are met. Jones Engineering Manufacturing in Co. Carlow, Ireland, will host the electrolyser developments, and Lagan MEICA will advise on construction and installation. Hidrigin plans to establish a manufacturing facility at Lisheen BioEnergy Campus to scale up production. The Irish firm will sell its green hydrogen produced in Lisheen as part of a pilot project to commercial off-takers. Hidrigin has secured €100m in funding for green hydrogen projects, with a goal to develop €500m worth of projects utilizing CPH2 electrolysers. The CEOs of CPH2 and Hidrigin expressed excitement about the technology and the opportunities it presents, emphasizing the importance of licensing agreements in scaling their businesses globally and accelerating market penetration.
