HPC Hamburg Port Consulting (HPC) has secured the contract to manage the project coordination and financial aspects of the ambitious initiative 'H2-Derivatives@BalticSeaPorts' (H2Deri@BSP). Led by Port of Hamburg Marketing (HHM), the project brings together 15 partners from seven Baltic Sea Region countries, aiming to promote the adoption of hydrogen-based derivatives as cargo and maritime fuels. This collaborative effort involves public port authorities, energy providers, and terminal operators, supported by 23 associated organizations with diverse competencies. The project, scheduled from March 2025 to February 2028, will address challenges related to green hydrogen derivatives, with a focus on disseminating results for wider applicability across EU regions. H2Deri@BSP aims to bridge knowledge gaps and develop market forecasts, investment models, bunkering technologies, and safety regulations to facilitate the handling of hydrogen derivatives. HPC will oversee project coordination and financial management, ensuring transparent use of public funding. The initiative is expected to contribute significantly to CO2 reductions, supporting the transition to sustainable energy systems in Baltic Sea ports. Stakeholders like Stefan Breitenbach and Hartmut Beyer express optimism about the project's impact on the maritime industry's future and the integration of Port of Hamburg within the Baltic region.
