The Ministry of New & Renewable Energy in India has announced the enhancement of the allocation for the Fertilizer Sector under the National Green Hydrogen Mission. The allocation has been increased from 5.5 lakh tonnes per annum to 7.5 lakh tonnes per annum of Green Ammonia in response to the growing demand from the sector. This decision follows the launch of the National Green Hydrogen Mission with the objective of promoting self-reliance through clean energy and setting an example for the global Clean Energy Transition. The Strategic Interventions for Green Hydrogen Transition (SIGHT) Programme, part of the mission, provides financial incentives to support domestic manufacturing of electrolysers and Green Hydrogen production. The Solar Energy Corporation of India has also initiated a competitive bidding process to select Green Ammonia Producers. The mission aims to drive decarbonization, reduce reliance on fossil fuel imports, and position India as a leader in Green Hydrogen technology and market.
