In an effort to advance towards clean energy and sustainable development, the Environmental Protection Department (EPD) and Sinopec Corp in Hong Kong signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on November 25 to collaborate on the development and application of hydrogen energy. The partnership aims to establish a green hydrogen production facility at a restored landfill site managed by the EPD. This facility will serve as a demonstration project to showcase the potential of hydrogen energy in Hong Kong, with the hydrogen produced being supplied to the local market. The collaboration also includes initiatives to raise public awareness, engage in technical exchanges, and leverage expertise to accelerate the development of green hydrogen, contributing to Hong Kong's transition to a low-carbon economy. Both parties expressed commitment to drive the development of green hydrogen in the region, with the goal of promoting the export of China's advanced green hydrogen technologies and products. This collaboration signifies a significant step forward in harnessing the potential of hydrogen as a clean and sustainable energy source, positioning Hong Kong as a regional leader in hydrogen energy.
