Hygenco Green Energies, a green hydrogen producer based in Gurgaon, India, has announced a partnership with Denmark-based Topsoe to leverage Topsoe's technology for its green ammonia plant in Gopalpur, Odisha. The company plans to establish a large-scale green ammonia project at the Gopalpur Industrial Park, aiming to have it operational by 2027, marking it as one of the first such projects in the sub-continent. Prior to this initiative, Hygenco had already commissioned India's first commercial green hydrogen plant earlier in 2024. In a recent development, Hygenco entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with REC, a Government of India undertaking, to secure $280 million debt financing for the development of the green ammonia project. This financial backing underscores the strategic significance of the project and demonstrates a commitment to advancing sustainable energy solutions in the region. By utilizing Topsoe's advanced dynamic green ammonia loop technology, Hygenco aims to ensure flexible and efficient operations while optimizing overall performance of the plant. The company emphasizes its focus on developing and deploying commercially attractive green hydrogen and green ammonia assets, with plans to invest $2.5 billion over three years to establish green hydrogen projects across India. This partnership aligns with Hygenco's broader strategy of collaborating with various entities to supply green hydrogen and green ammonia, contributing to the transition towards more sustainable energy practices.
