The Ministry of New & Renewable Energy in India is actively implementing the National Green Hydrogen Mission (NGHM) with a target to achieve a production capacity of 5 million tonnes per annum of Green Hydrogen by 2030. To support this initiative, the MNRE has issued Scheme Guidelines for the SIGHT Programme – Component II, specifically catering to the Fertilizer sector under Mode 2A of the NGHM. The guidelines have been amended to increase the allocation under Mode 2A for the Fertilizer sector from 5,50,000 tonnes per annum to 7,50,000 tonnes per annum, reflecting the growing demand for Green Ammonia in this sector.
The Mission, launched with an outlay of Rs. 19,744 crores up to FY 2029-30, aims to drive India towards self-reliance through clean energy while playing a significant role in the global Clean Energy Transition. By focusing on Green Hydrogen, the Mission is expected to facilitate the decarbonization of the economy, reduce reliance on fossil fuel imports, and position India as a leader in Green Hydrogen technology. This strategic move not only supports the growth of the renewable energy sector but also paves the way for a cleaner and more sustainable energy future for the country.
