Minister of New and Renewable Energy, Pralhad Joshi, announced an agreement for the export of green ammonia from India to Japan, aiming to establish a robust supply chain and foster future collaborations in the green energy sector. The agreement involves Sembcorp Industries leading green ammonia production in India, with Kyushu Electric Power Co. committing to incorporating green ammonia in their energy mix, thereby reducing coal consumption. Facilitated by Sojitz Corporation and NYK Line, this partnership is a significant step towards sustainable energy practices. Minister Joshi highlighted India's ambitious goals in green hydrogen and ammonia production under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, with a current tender for 7.5 lakh TPA of green ammonia and additional tenders for 4.5 lakh TPA capacity. These initiatives align with India's strategy to incentivize over a million tonnes per annum of Green Hydrogen production. The focus on building partnerships, regulatory frameworks, and investments exemplifies India's determination to accelerate the transition towards green energy.
