India has announced the issuance of scheme guidelines for the 2nd Tranche of the Strategic Interventions for Green Hydrogen Transition (SIGHT) Programme. This phase, under the Incentive Scheme for Green Hydrogen Production, targets the production of 450,000 tonnes per annum of Green Hydrogen. A significant portion of this capacity, 40,000 TPA, is designated for biomass-based pathways, while the remainder is allocated to technology-agnostic pathways. The Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) will manage the implementation and is set to release the Request for Selection (RfS) soon. Bidding for this tranche will be based on the least average incentive quoted by the bidder. Bidders can participate in either or both buckets, with a maximum capacity allotment of 90,000 TPA. The National Green Hydrogen Mission, initiated in January 2023 with a budget of ₹19,744 crore, aims to promote India's self-reliance through clean energy, contribute to global Clean Energy Transition, decarbonize the economy, reduce reliance on fossil fuel imports, and establish India's technology and market leadership in Green Hydrogen.
