The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy in India has initiated the National Green Hydrogen Mission to propel the country to the forefront of Green Hydrogen technologies. This mission focuses on enhancing research in the production, storage, and utilization of Green Hydrogen, with the broader aim of supporting India's transition to clean energy and reducing carbon emissions. The Government of India has issued a call for proposals to establish Centres of Excellence (CoE) under this mission, aiming to create hubs for cutting-edge research, skill-building, and knowledge sharing in Green Hydrogen innovation. These CoEs are set to drive sustainability, strengthen energy independence, and foster collaboration among industry, academia, and government to accelerate Green Hydrogen technologies. With an allocated budget of ₹19,744 crore until FY 2029-30, the National Green Hydrogen Mission is poised to significantly decarbonize the economy, diminish reliance on fossil fuel imports, and elevate India as a key player in the Green Hydrogen sector.
