India has achieved a milestone in its clean energy transition by inaugurating the country's first green hydrogen plant for the float glass industry. Located at Asahi India Glass Ltd's facility in Soniyana, Chittorgarh, Rajasthan, the plant is a joint endeavor by INOX Air Products (INOXAP) and AIS. This initiative represents a breakthrough in integrating green hydrogen into the glass manufacturing process in India, positioning the industry for a sustainable, low-carbon future. The plant, solely powered by solar energy, has the capacity to produce 190 tonnes of green hydrogen annually through electrolysis. Initially, INOXAP will supply 95 tonnes per year to AIS under a long-term offtake agreement. INOXAP has overseen the design, engineering, installation, and will operate the plant throughout the contract period. AIS's investment in solar infrastructure highlights its commitment to utilizing green hydrogen in its production processes, emphasizing sustainability and decarbonization.
