The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy in India has introduced the Scheme Guidelines for the 'Strategic Interventions for Green Hydrogen Transition (SIGHT) Programme – Component II' aiming to enhance green hydrogen production. Tranche-II of the program will have a capacity of 450,000 TPA, with a portion reserved for biomass-based pathways and the rest for technology agnostic pathways. Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) will oversee the implementation, with the bidding process focusing on the least average incentive quoted. The National Green Hydrogen Mission, initiated in January 2023 with a significant budget allocation, is envisioned to drive India towards self-reliance in clean energy and play a pivotal role in global Clean Energy Transition. The mission is expected to promote decarbonisation, reduce reliance on fossil fuel imports, and position India as a leader in green hydrogen technology and markets.
