Inox Air Products (InoxAP) has inaugurated the first phase of a green hydrogen plant at Asahi India Glass' (AIS) greenfield float glass facility in Soniyana, Rajasthan, India. The plant is currently capable of producing 95 tonnes of hydrogen annually, with plans to scale up to 190 tonnes per year. This initiative is expected to reduce up to 1,250 tonnes of CO2 emissions from the facility by using solar power for electrolysis. InoxAP's Managing Director, Siddharth Jain, highlighted the significance of this project as the company's first green hydrogen plant and a pioneering endeavor in the Indian float glass industry. The partnership with AIS is in line with AIS's commitment to sourcing 94% of the Soniyana facility's power needs from sustainable energy sources. Jain also stressed the importance of providing consumer subsidies for the widespread adoption and success of green hydrogen production in India.
