JSW Energy, an Indian energy company, has initiated the construction of a novel venture: a 1.0 GWh Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) project, signaling its foray into the energy storage services domain. The project, bestowed by the Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited (SECI), features two 500 MWh installations designed to store and release energy efficiently. Additionally, JSW Energy has secured a green hydrogen capacity under the SIGHT programme and penned a deal with JSW Steel for substantial green hydrogen and oxygen supply by 2030. The company is actively engaged in propelling green hydrogen and green steel projects, aiming to lead in sustainable energy solutions and industrial decarbonisation. JSW Energy's strategic initiatives align with its vision of attaining 20 GW generation capacity and 40 GWh energy storage capacity by 2030, with a pledge to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050, showcasing its dedication to sustainable practices and innovative energy solutions.
