North Atlantic has unveiled plans for a hydrogen development project powered by a 320 MW wind farm located east of Sunnyside. The project aims to establish a hydrogen generation plant capable of producing 30,000 tonnes of hydrogen per year. Additionally, the plant will have the capacity to convert 60,000 tonnes of hydrogen into a Liquid Organic Hydrogen Carrier for export purposes, with half allocated to the North Atlantic Wind to Hydrogen Project and the remainder reserved for future expansion. To support this endeavor, a 138 kV transmission line and associated electrical infrastructure will be established to connect the wind turbines to the hydrogen plant. Technical sessions are scheduled for January 2025 to further delve into the project details. As part of their community engagement strategy, North Atlantic has launched a new website and will be opening a community office in December. The office hours will provide an opportunity for the public to learn more about the project and its progress through the environmental assessment. The company aims to foster transparency and collaboration by allowing community members to drop by during specified times in December.
