Doosan Group, through its subsidiaries Doosan Fuel Cell and Doosan Energy, has teamed up with Korea Southern Power to enhance the efficiency and sustainability of a cogeneration plant located at the Shinsejong Light Dream headquarters in Sejong City, South Korea. The collaboration, formalized through a memorandum of understanding (MOU) signed on the 17th, aims to leverage the expertise and technologies of the participating companies to convert the existing power plant into an eco-friendly facility. The cogeneration plant, operational since June last year, currently relies on liquefied natural gas (LNG) for electricity and heat production. Doosan Efficiency, a key supplier, has provided steam turbines for the plant. The agreement includes a strategic plan to introduce hydrogen fuel cells with a capacity of up to 40MW into the cogeneration process to enhance comprehensive efficiency. Additionally, the development of advanced automatic power generation control (AGC) technology is prioritized to maintain stable power system operations. The partners envision exploring new business models that integrate this technology with cogeneration plants in the future. Lee Seung-joon, the managing director of Doosan Fuel Cell, expressed optimism about the partnership, highlighting the potential for a sustainable and efficient business model that could drive sales growth post-implementation. The collaboration signifies a significant step towards greener energy production and underscores the commitment of the involved companies towards environmental sustainability and technological innovation in the energy sector.
