Masdar, the Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company, has reaffirmed its dominant position in the global clean energy sector by making substantial equity investments and obtaining project financing totaling more than Dhs16.5 billion across nine countries. Since its inception in 2006, Masdar has been instrumental in supporting the UAE's goal of becoming a frontrunner in sustainability and climate action. The company has engaged in projects in over 40 countries and aims to boost its renewable energy capacity to 100GW by 2030. Masdar's recent achievements include acquisitions in Greece, Spain, and the United States, as well as the initiation of major projects worldwide, such as the Al Ajban Solar Project in the UAE and solar projects in Azerbaijan. Notably, Masdar plays a significant role in advancing green hydrogen development and supporting countries globally in their climate neutrality efforts. Additionally, the collaboration between the Abu Dhabi Investment Office and Ignite Energy Access will establish Ignite's global headquarters in Abu Dhabi, creating over 200 jobs and promoting clean energy technology and innovation in the region and Africa. Ignite Energy Access specializes in distributed solar solutions across sub-Saharan Africa and plans to connect 100 million people to sustainable electricity by 2030. The partnership will facilitate the expansion of Ignite's operations in Africa and introduce advanced solar technologies to the UAE, supporting rural communities and sustainable initiatives. This move underscores Abu Dhabi's commitment to becoming a hub for sustainable investments and reinforces the emirate's leadership in energy transition and innovation.
