Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for India's first green hydrogen hub project in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, under the National Green Hydrogen Mission. This project, a joint effort by NTPC Green Energy Ltd. and NREDCAP, aims to develop 20 GW of renewable energy projects, along with 1500 TPD green hydrogen and 7500 TPD green hydrogen derivatives. These initiatives, including green methanol, green urea, and sustainable aviation fuel production, will constitute one of India's largest integrated green hydrogen facilities. The project is projected to attract about INR 1,85,000 crore in investments and generate substantial employment opportunities while aiding India in achieving its ambitious non-fossil energy capacity target. Prime Minister Modi highlighted Andhra Pradesh's potential as a technology hub and stressed the importance of the state leading in futuristic technologies such as green hydrogen. The Prime Minister also laid the foundation stones for a smart city project, a drug park, and the Krishnapatnam Industrial Area, emphasizing the boost these developments will provide to infrastructure, research, manufacturing, and industrial job creation in Andhra Pradesh.
