Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) and Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IndianOil) have joined hands to explore the potential of hydrogen-powered vehicles in India. The collaboration involves real-world testing of hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEVs) on Indian roads, with a focus on the Hyundai NEXO SUV. The goal is to assess the vehicle's performance, reliability, and maintenance requirements over a two-year trial period covering 40,000 kilometers. Additionally, a Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) study will be conducted to evaluate the economic viability of hydrogen vehicles. The partnership aims to pave the way for cleaner and more sustainable mobility solutions in India by harnessing the benefits of hydrogen technology. Hyundai's commitment to hydrogen extends to establishing a Hydrogen Innovation Centre in partnership with IIT Madras. This center will facilitate the testing of hydrogen-related technologies and components, fostering innovation in green hydrogen. The Hyundai NEXO, which combines hydrogen and oxygen to generate electricity, is positioned as an environmentally friendly solution for reducing carbon emissions and fossil fuel consumption.
