In a significant development, Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently inaugurated the NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL) Green Hydrogen Hub Project in Pudimadaka, near Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. This project marks a crucial step under the National Green Hydrogen Mission and involves the collaboration of NGEL, NTPC Ltd., and the New & Renewable Energy Development Corporation of Andhra Pradesh (NREDCAP). The initiative encompasses the establishment of 20 GW renewable energy projects, the production of 1500 tonnes per day of green hydrogen, and the creation of 7500 tonnes per day of green hydrogen-derived products like green methanol, urea, and sustainable aviation fuel. Notably, this endeavor is poised to attract an investment of ₹1.85 lakh crore to Andhra Pradesh, providing a significant boost to the state's economy and generating numerous job opportunities. Furthermore, the project's objectives align with India's ambitious target of achieving 500 GW of non-fossil energy capacity by 2030. The event, graced by dignitaries like the Andhra Pradesh Governor, Chief Minister, Civil Aviation Minister, and Deputy Chief Minister, highlights the collaborative efforts between government bodies and industry players to drive sustainable energy initiatives. NGEL has also inked an MoU with the Rajasthan government for a similar venture to develop 25 GW of renewable energy projects, showcasing a broader commitment to green energy across various states.
