Saudi Arabia and Germany have strengthened their energy partnership by signing a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in Riyadh. The MoU aims to advance green hydrogen production and exports between the two nations. Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman bin Abdulaziz and Germany’s Minister of Finance, Jörg Kukies, discussed joint efforts in clean hydrogen development as part of key energy sector initiatives. The 'Saudi-German Green Hydrogen Bridge' MoU, signed between ACWA Power and SEFE, outlines plans to produce and export 200,000 tons of green hydrogen yearly from Saudi Arabia to Europe by 2030. ACWA Power will lead project development, investment, and operational activities, while SEFE will be a co-investor and manage hydrogen marketing in Germany and Europe. This initiative supports Saudi Arabia's strategic objective of becoming a key player in green hydrogen production and export, demonstrating its commitment to the energy transition. Additionally, the agreement reinforces bilateral cooperation under the Saudi-German Energy Dialogue, focusing on promoting renewable energy and clean hydrogen technologies.
