Mibgas has released the IBHYX, the first Iberian renewable hydrogen price index, indicating that green hydrogen could be produced in Spain and Portugal at €5.85/kg. This index will serve as a benchmark for producers to ensure profitability while adhering to RFNBO criteria. The calculation of the levelised cost of hydrogen (LCOH) considers the full range of costs involved in production, including renewable electricity sources. DH2's plans to develop 1.5GW of green hydrogen capacity in Spain's Extremadura region further highlight the growing investment in renewable energy. The price index will be regularly updated to reflect changes in power purchase agreements for renewable energy, along with the cost of CO2 emissions, providing a dynamic view of the green hydrogen market.
