TotalEnergies has entered a strategic partnership with RWE to jointly develop the 795 MW OranjeWind offshore wind farm in the Netherlands, with TotalEnergies acquiring a 50% stake. The renewable energy from this project will power TotalEnergies' electrolyzer facilities, producing 40,000 tons of green hydrogen annually to decarbonize its refining operations in Northern Europe. The collaboration is aimed at significantly reducing CO2 emissions by 5 million tons per year by 2030. The OranjeWind project is part of TotalEnergies' strategy to transition to low-carbon energy solutions, focusing on the synergy between offshore wind power and green hydrogen electrolyzers. The project will also enhance the stability of the Dutch grid with electric boilers and battery storage systems. The construction is scheduled to commence in 2026, with full operation expected by early 2028. Leaders from TotalEnergies and RWE praised the collaboration, highlighting its importance in decarbonizing refineries and contributing to the Dutch energy system's future blueprint for sustainable energy.
