In a groundbreaking development for Spain's renewable energy sector, bp and Iberdrola have entrusted Imefy, a company based in Toledo, with the crucial task of manufacturing and supplying a transformer for the country's largest renewable hydrogen production plant. Situated at bp's refinery in Castellón, this plant, with a capacity of 25 MW, represents a major milestone in Spain's sustainable energy journey. Imefy will oversee the production, supply, and installation of the three-phase transformer, featuring 37 MVA power and a 66/30 kV transformation ratio, with delivery scheduled for the initial quarter of 2026. The total investment in this project surpasses €70 million, highlighting the commitment to advancing green technology in the region. Following its anticipated completion in the latter part of 2026, the plant aims to cater to industries struggling with decarbonization challenges in the Valencian Community, offering green hydrogen as a cleaner substitute for natural gas in sectors like ceramics, chemical industries, and heavy transport. This endeavor is not only a significant step towards industrial decarbonization but also a positive stride in the adoption of sustainable energy practices in Spain, showcasing a shift towards greener and more environmentally friendly industrial operations.
