COSCO Shipping Energy Transportation (CSET) from China has launched a new subsidiary, Dalian COSCO Shipping Energy Supply Chain, with a focus on LPG fleet development and hydrogen-based new energy business. The entity, announced on November 15, 2024, has already entered investment and business cooperation agreements with key partners. Dalian COSCO Shipping Energy Supply Chain will primarily deal with the transportation of gas chemicals like LPG and integrated logistics of hydrogen-based green energy. The company aims to establish China's first and world-leading LPG transport fleet and a land-sea channel for hydrogen-based green energy in Northeast China. The focus will be on enhancing the resilience and safety of the industrial supply chain. The company's sustainable practices are also highlighted through vessels like the Yuan Rui Yang, a LNG dual-fuel VLCC, chosen as a sustainability case example by the United Nations Global Compact. This initiative signifies CSET's dedication to green shipping and decarbonization. Furthermore, CSET's innovative strides include the development of a dual-fuel ammonia/LPG vessel design, which has received approvals from renowned classification societies like ABS, CCS, and DNV, showcasing the company's commitment to advancing in the green energy sector.
