Hydrogenious LOHC Technologies has recently been awarded an $80 million grant from the German government and the State of Bavaria to further develop its liquid organic hydrogen carrier system. This innovative technology is based on the use of benzyl toluene as a carrier for hydrogen. The company is currently in the process of building a hydrogen release plant in Bavaria, which upon completion in 2028, will be capable of supplying 1,800 metric tons of hydrogen per year to the Danube region. Additionally, Hydrogenious is working on establishing another plant in Dormagen, Germany, with plans to commence hydrogen reactions with benzyl toluene by the year 2025. This significant financial investment and expansion in hydrogen technology highlight a positive stride towards sustainable hydrogen production and distribution in the region. The support from the government and the focus on hydrogen infrastructure development are crucial steps in the transition towards cleaner energy sources.
