NTPC Green Energy Ltd (NGEL) under the leadership of CMD Gurdeep Singh has set ambitious goals to significantly expand its capacity to 60 gigawatts by 2032. This expansion will be driven by a mix of solar and wind energy, with a notable emphasis on green molecules, including green hydrogen-based derivatives such as green ammonia, methanol, ethanol, DME, sustainable aviation fuel, and green urea. NGEL is strategically pushing towards sustainable energy solutions, exemplified by their plans to establish a hydrogen hub near Visakhapatnam on a substantial 1200-acre coastal site. This location not only caters to domestic energy needs but also positions itself favorably for exporting green hydrogen derivatives. Additionally, NGEL is actively collaborating with various states and central PSUs like IOCL, ONGC, DVC, and others for renewable energy projects. The company's endeavors include developing a massive 5,000 MW renewable energy park in Khavada, Gujarat, and venturing into bidding processes for another solar park in the region. Furthermore, NGEL has entered into joint ventures to develop 25,000 MW in Rajasthan and signed agreements for around 20,000 MW of projects in Maharashtra, showcasing a strong commitment to sustainable energy development and partnerships for a greener future.
